Application Requirements
Motor vehicle drivers reaching the age of 60 with their driver's license issued by Beijing municipality for large buses, tractor-trailers, city buses, medium-sized buses, and large trucks must downgrade their permitted vehicle type to a small vehicle and renew their driver's license accordingly, while those with a license for a heavy tractor-trailer may retain their light tractor-trailer driving license; Drivers reaching the age of 70 with their license issued by Beijing municipality for ordinary three or two-wheeled motorcycles must downgrade their permitted vehicle type to a light motorcycle and renew their license accordingly, while those with a driver's license for a light tractor-trailer must downgrade permitted vehicle type to a small vehicle and renew their driver's license accordingly, with the following additional requirements to be met: Demerit points accumulated during the scoring period must not exceed 12; The driver's license must not have been confiscated, revoked, or canceled for any reason.
Individuals with a driver's license issued by another province or municipality may apply for renewal in Beijing upon reaching the required age, transfer their driver's license to Beijing, and renew it accordingly while meeting the aforementioned requirements.
1. The driver's identity document and the identity documents for any agents submitting an application on the driver's behalf. A letter of authorization may be submitted separately when the applicant's signature is absent from the application form. The agent does not need to submit written authorization if the individual has applied online through the "Traffic Management 12123" app.

2. The Driver's Physical Condition Certificate issued by a medical institution at or above the county level designated by the Beijing Municipal Health Commission, including hospitals, township health centers, community health centers and medical examination centers or the medical institutions at or above the regiment level designated by the Chinese People's Liberation Army and the Chinese People's Armed Police Force; Hard copies of the documents are not required if digital copies have been submitted online;
3. A driver's license;
4. Three photos of the driver. Photo requirements: straight-edged, head uncovered, front facing, upper body, full-color against a white background, taken no more than 6 months before the application, with no uniforms, and the mugshot should be clear, layered, with neutral facial expression and without any obvious distortions. The photo should be 32mm×22mm (equivalent to 1 inch). The head should be from 14mm to 16mm in width and 19mm to 22mm in length.
Procedures:
Applications are accepted and application materials reviewed. Application materials that meet the requirements are recorded in the system, after which a new driver's license is produced and issued.

Locations:
1. Diplomatic personnel and foreign nationals who have changed their name, nationality, or ID are asked to apply at the Office of Vehicle Management; Other overseas personnel may apply at the Office of Vehicle Management and its branches.
2. Other personnel may apply through the Vehicle Management Office and its branches, traffic brigade and detachment vehicle management stations, a government affairs service center, or a vehicle management service station.
3. Registered users of the "Traffic Management 12123" app may renew their license through www.122.gov.cn or the corresponding app, and drivers over 60 years old may use the account of a family member or friend to apply for driver's license renewal.
4. After renewing the driver's license, the applicant may apply for its e-version through the "Traffic Management 12123" app. The applicant will need to apply for a new e-version driver's license even if they already have one.

Identity documents:
1. A Resident Identity Card or Temporary Resident Identity Card for residents of mainland China;
2. An Identity Card or Temporary Identity Card for military service personnel (including armed policemen). Those without a Resident Identity Card can use valid military credentials issued by the army such as a military officer's card, a civilian cadre's card, a soldier's card, a certificate of emeritus or a certificate of retirement, And a certificate of residence of the troops in this city issued by the unit at or above the regiment level where they are located;
3. A Mainland Residence Permit for Hong Kong and Macao Residents. In the absence of a Residence Permit for Hong Kong and Macao Residents, a valid Mainland Travel Permit for Hong Kong and Macao Residents or a Home Return Permit, a Travel Document of the People's Republic of China issued by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, and residence registration certificate issued by the public security organ may be used;
4. A Mainland Residence Permit for Taiwan Residents. In the absence of a Mainland Residence Permit for Taiwan Residents, a Mainland Travel Permit for Taiwan Residents valid for five years issued by the public security organ, or a Travel Document of the People's Republic of China issued by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and residence registration certificate issued by the public security organ may be used;
5. For overseas Chinese, a passport of the People's Republic of China and the residence registration certificate issued by the public security organ may be used;
6. For foreign nationals, a passport or other travel documents, a visa valid for at least 3 months or a stay permit or residence permit, or a resident registration certificate issued by public security authorities may be used; Foreign nationals who have obtained permanent residency may use their Permanent Residence Permit for Foreigners;
7. For the personnel of foreign embassies and consulates and representative offices of international organizations in China, the valid identity documents issued by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs may be used.
