On the evening of January 6, the Beijing Municipal Commission of Development and Reform announced that the feasibility study report on the project of the northward section of Beijing Subway Line R4 Phase I has been approved. According to the plan, the project of the northward section of Line R4 Phase I will stretch 21.3 kilometers from Guanzhuanglu Xikou Station on the south to Yanjingqiao Station on the north. A total of five stations will be set in this section, namely, Yanjingqiao Station, Linhe Station, Beijing China-Germany Industrial Park Station, Terminal 3 Station, and Guanzhuanglu Xikou Station from north to south. The Line R4 will allow passengers to transfer to Line 3 at Guanzhuanglu Xikou Station and Capital Airport Express at Terminal 3 Station.
The construction of the northward section of Line R4 Phase I is scheduled to commence this year and finish at the end of 2029. This line is expected to significantly improve the travel efficiency between the Shunyi New Town and the downtown area, enhance the service guarantee for the Beijing China-Germany Industrial Park, the Jinzhan International Cooperation Service Zone, the Zhongguancun Shunyi Park, and other key industrial and functional zones along it, and further improve the comprehensive carrying capacity of the New Towns on the Plain. In addition, this line will contribute to building Beijing into an international exchange center by constructing a fast-track corridor that, centered around the Capital Airport, connects key functional zones such as the Jinzhan International Cooperation Service Zone, the fourth embassy zone, and the Beijing China-Germany Industrial Park, realizing interflows within 20 minutes.
