Starting from January 5, 2025, China's railway system will implement a new operating plan. This plan includes trains departing from Beijing North Railway Station, as well as Qinghe Railway Station, to cities in central and western China such as Xi'an, Lanzhou and Chengdu. Given that Beijing is home to seven main railway stations, it's worth considering the popular tourist destinations along the routes from these stations.
Beijing Chaoyang Railway Station
This station is accessible by Subway Line 3. High-speed trains departing from here will take you to destinations in northeastern China, reaching Chengde, Shenyang, Dalian, Changchun, Changbaishan and Harbin, etc. Tourists departing from this station can reach Chengde Mountain Resort, Dalian Tiger Beach Ocean Park, the Former Site Museum of Changchun Film Studio, Tianchi (Heavenly Lake) on Changbai Mountains, Harbin Ice and Snow World, and Harbin's Saint Sophia Cathedral, among other attractions.
Beijing North Railway Station and Qinghe Railway Station
Beijing North Railway Station can be reached by Subway Lines 2, 4 and 13, while Qinghe Railway Station is accessible by Line 13 and Changping Line.
The high-speed trains departing from these two stations mostly head for northern Hebei and northern Shanxi. Starting from January 5, 2025, the trains departing here will also head for the cities in central and western China, with stopovers in places such as Taizicheng, Zhangjiakou, Hohhot, Datong, Xi'an, Lanzhou and Chengdu. Tourists departing from these two stations can reach Yunding Snow Park and Dajing Gate of the Ming Great Wall in Zhangjiakou, Yungang Grottoes and Xuankong Temple in Datong, Dayan Pagoda (also known as "Great Wild Goose Pagoda") and Shaanxi History Museum in Xi'an, Zhongshan Bridge in Lanzhou, and Chengdu Research Base of Giant Panda Breeding, among others.
Beijing Fengtai Railway Station
This station is accessible by Subway Lines 10 and 16. High-speed trains here are mainly bound for the provinces of Shanxi, Henan, Shaanxi, Jiangxi and Fujian. Tourists departing from this station can reach Taiyuan, Pingyao Ancient City, Hongdong, Luoyang, Xi'an, Chengdu, Chongqing, Liaocheng, Nanchang, Jinggangshan, Fuzhou, and Xiamen, among other places. The tourist attractions in the aforementioned places include Jinci Temple in Taiyuan, Longmen Grottoes in Luoyang, Mount Hua, Du Fu Thatched Cottage in Chengdu, Shuihu Hero City in Heze, the Pavilion of Prince Teng in Nanchang, Sanfang Qixiang (Three Lanes and Seven Alleys) in Fuzhou, and Nanputuo Temple in Xiamen.
Beijing South Railway Station
This station can be reached by Subway Lines 4 and 14. High-speed trains here mostly run to Tianjin, Shandong, Anhui, Jiangsu, Zhejiang and Shanghai, pulling into stations in Tianjin, Jinan, Tai'an, Qufu, Nanjing, Hangzhou, Suzhou and Shanghai. Tourists departing from this station can reach the "Tianjin Eye" Ferris Wheel, Spouting Spring and Qianfo Mountain (also known as the "Thousand Buddha Mountain") in Jinan, Mount Tai in Tai'an, Confucius Temple in Qufu, Sun Yat-sen Mausoleum and Xuanwu Lake in Nanjing, the West Lake and Lingyin Temple in Hangzhou, the Humble Administrator's Garden in Suzhou, and the Bund and Disneyland in Shanghai.
Beijing West Railway Station
This station is accessible by Subway Lines 7 and 9. High-speed trains here run north-south across multiple provinces along the Beijing-Kowloon Railway and, via hub stations, reach major tourist cities in the east and west. The cities reached by the trains from this station including Zhengzhou, Xi'an, Lanzhou, Chengdu, Chongqing, Guiyang, Kunming, Wuhan, Nanchang, Changsha, Guangzhou and Hong Kong, of which the famous attractions include Xi'an City Wall, Gansu Provincial Museum in Lanzhou, Wuhou Temple in Chengdu, the China Three Gorges Museum in Chongqing, Qianling Mountain in Guiyang, Yellow Crane Tower in Wuhan, the Pavilion of Prince Teng in Nanchang, Yuelu Academy in Changsha, Chimelong Tourist Resort in Zhuhai, and Victoria Harbour in Hong Kong.
Beijing Railway Station
This station is accessible by Subway Line 2. Most of the high-speed trains departing from this station, with stopovers at Beijing Chaoyang Railway Station, Beijing West Railway Station, or Beijing South Railway Station, will head for other provinces and cities. The rest depart for eastern Hebei, eastern Liaoning, Shanghai and Nanjing, by way of Tangshan, Qinhuangdao, Shanhaiguan, Shenyang, Nanjing and Shanghai. Tourist attractions in the aforementioned cities include Confucius Temple in Nanjing, and Aranya and Beidaihe in Qinhuangdao.
