Guanting Reservoir and its surrounding wetlands serve as important stops for migratory birds. Thanks to the greater efforts made to protect biodiversity in the Beijing-Tianjin-Hebei region, the number of birds overwintering here has been rising. Among these birds are the ones under first-class and second-class national protection, such as whooper swans, common cranes, and swan geese.
