Flocks of Migratory Birds Fly Through Miyun

Miyun District is an important transit stop and supply station on the East Asian-Australasian Flyway, with a large number of migratory birds passing through it each year. Currently, the district has recorded 412 species of birds across 72 families of 21 orders. Among them, there are 22 species under national Class-I protection and 70 species under national Class-II protection in China, and 99 species under municipal-level protection in Beijing.

Beijing Wins Title of 'Biodiversity Charming City'

The 16th Session of the Conference of the Parties (COP16) to the Convention on Biological Diversity was held in Cali, Colombia. At the 8th Summit for Subnational Governments and Cities, a parallel event of the COP16, Beijing earned the prestigious title of "Biodiversity Charming City".
Class II Protection Species Reed Parrotbill Spotted in Miyun District

Recently, a reed parrotbill was spotted near the Chaobai River downstream of Miyun Reservoir. This bird species newly recorded in Miyun District is under Class II protection in China and has been categorized as a near-threatened (NT) species by the International Union for Conservation of Nature (IUCN).
First Ecological Bird-Watching Festival of Beizhuang Town, Miyun District Held

On September 28, the Ecological Bird-Watching Festival kicked off in Beizhuang Town, Miyun District. The festival consisted of a series of colorful sub-events such as the Bird-Watching Economy Salon, the release of rescued birds, the guide on field birdwatching, the educational courses on the facts about common birds, and a distinctive fair featuring agricultural products.
