Shortlists Announced at 20th Beijing International Sports Film Week

On the evening of August 23, shortlists of the 20th Beijing International Sports Film Week (BISFW) were announced at the Langyuan Station.

Han Zirong, executive vice president of the Beijing Olympic City Development Association, stated in her speech that the BISFW will strengthen cooperation with the Fédération Internationale Cinéma Télévision Sportifs (FICTS), tell Chinese stories to the world, promote cultural exchanges between Olympic cities, support the construction of Beijing as a center for international exchanges, and help better introduce Chinese culture to the world.

In his speech, Jiang Xiaoyu, chairman of the Judging Panel for BISFW, stated that BISFW this year has deepened cooperation with the Beijing International Film Festival, universities, and other domestic film festivals, to enrich the collection of works and enhance the professionalism and influence of the event.

Franco Ascani, member of the IOC Commission for Culture and Olympic Heritage and president of FICTS, stated in his speech that the BISFW, the most important film festival event before the Milano International FICTS FEST World Championship Final, provides strong support for the inheritance and promotion of the Olympic spirit and he looks forward to meeting everyone again at the Milano Final.

A video message from Zhang Yimou and Jackie Chan was played at the scene, along with a congratulatory letter from the Consulate-General of the People's Republic of China in Milano. World champion figure skaters and ambassadors of the 20th BISFW, Pang Qing and Tong Jian, shared their Olympic experiences and profound understanding of the spirit of sports on the scene.

Awards for "Olympic Games and Olympic Spirit" Works

The event also announced the winners of different categories for this year, and presented trophies and certificates to the winners. Han Zirong and Franco Ascani exchanged certificates of honor on behalf of their respective institutions.

The 20th BISFW received 275 sports-themed works. After preliminary review, 47 films were selected as recommended outstanding works. On August 2, after final evaluation by eight professional judges, 18 works were selected to participate in the 42nd Milano International FICTS FEST World Championship Final according to relevant requirements. These works will be screened to the public at venues such as the Beijing Olympic Museum and China National Film Museum.
