Recently, Beijing launched the "Boosting Businesses, Brightening Beijing"[Y1]  service initiative as part of the National Small and Medium-Sized Enterprises Service Month[Y2]  in 2024.

It is learned that, to further enhance services for businesses, Beijing has formulated the "Boosting Businesses, Brightening Beijing" Action Plan for SME Services in Beijing Municipality to address the concerns and challenges faced by small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs), thereby ensuring an enhanced sense of gain of these enterprises.

This year-long service initiative will focus on helping micro, small and medium-sized enterprises (MSMEs) learn about, understand and utilize various policies. Leveraging the SME database and policy repository, the relevant authorities will enhance intelligent matching and precise information delivery through the enterprise service-oriented version of the Beijingtong App. This effort aims to help businesses stay fully informed and promotes municipal and district-level preferential policies for businesses through multiple channels and formats. The goal is to ensure that eligible businesses can benefit from more and more preferential policies without making corresponding applications first, and that enterprises can be relieved from resubmitting information for making other applications after making their first applications.

Throughout this month, Beijing will engage in the National Small and Medium-sized Enterprises Service Month and launch several events, focusing on implementing policies, streamlining services, and contributing to the growth of SMEs. Over 60 special events will be organized to assist SMEs, featuring policy support, technological support, and management support, to encourage, energize, and strengthen these businesses.

The 2024 "Maker in Beijing" Competition has also been launched in the meantime. This competition is a key brand event for supporting the innovation and entrepreneurship of SMEs in the city. Having been launched for eight consecutive years, the competition has seen over 20,000 participating projects. This year's total prize amount has increased from CNY 3 million to CNY 5 million, with the top prize for the enterprise group hitting CNY 1 million, and the top prize for the maker group reaching CNY 500,000. The amounts of other prizes have also been raised.
