From July 15 to August 31, municipal-level parks in Beijing will suspend their usual Monday closures of historical courtyards, gardens within gardens, and museums, opening them to the general public seven days a week to further improve their service capacities. Taking advantage of this occasion, more than 130 parks in Xicheng District have initiated their distinctive events.

Beihai Park has expanded the size of its Lotus Festival exhibition this year, to include Chanfu Temple and Wanfo Lou Relic Site, displaying lotus flowers in bowls and pots. Its daytime educational event "Gardens within the Imperial Gardens", scheduled for July 31 at Jingxin Studio, will provide visitors with information on garden plants, buildings, and inscribed plaques and couplets. The park's nighttime cultural event will feature garden tours, quyi (Chinese variety performances), and park merchandise sales.

In addition, Beijing Zoo and Taoranting Park have rolled out a lively science outreach program offering a great variety of lectures and interactive activities.

What's more, Xicheng District has strengthened its greening efforts in recent years. Presently, it is home to over 130 parks, such as comprehensive parks, historical parks, smart sports parks, community parks, and riverside parks, all of which have turned into elegant and tranquil oases in the heart of the city.
