Escape from Heat: New Experiences at Ski Resorts in Beijing

It's been months since the end of the snow season, and many ski resorts in the suburbs of Beijing have reopened and become popular places for those struggling to escape from the heating weather.

Tourists experience rafting in mountain woods among the valleys of Huaibei Ski Resort. 

Outdoor activities that include cross-country riding, mountain camping, rafting, and jungle traversing are popular. As summer approaches, Huaibei Ski Resort in Huairou District has launched various summer activities. A large number of outdoor sports enthusiasts have been attracted to experience mountain rafting on a route with a length of 3.86 kilometers and a drop of 189 meters.

The dry ski jumping platform of Jundushan Ski Resort has been completed and opened this summer.

Parents and their children participate in the activities on the Children's Day at the campground of Jundushan Ski Resort.

At Jundushan Ski Resort, the snow track is now verdant with grass, with various obstacles placed to create the competition venue for the races for young challengers. Last summer, many new programs like camping, harvesting and kids' races became available, and the resort recorded about 100,000 visits in total. Currently, a section of the snow track at Jundushan Ski Resort is under construction. With a maximum drop of 26 meters, it will, upon completion, become the largest and most professional dry ski jumping platform among all in the ski resorts in Beijing.

Tourists experience alpine coasters at Yanqing National Alpine Skiing Center in Yanqing Olympic Zone.

Yanqing National Alpine Skiing Center, a venue for the Winter Olympics in 2022, and Yanqing Olympic Zone, where the center is located, are also open to citizens and tourists. The zone has developed entertainment projects like alpine slides and launched new activities this summer, such as canoeing on Feicui Lake, wave paddle boarding, and mountainside fishing. Several mountain hiking trails are also open to the public.
