The 21st Magnolia Blossom Festival and the inaugural Beijing Shijingshan Garden Festival kicked off on March 29 at Beijing International Sculpture Park and will continue until April 5.
During the opening ceremony of the two events, the 90-year-old Kuang Tingyun, a renowned botanist and a nationwide famous academician of the Chinese Academy of Sciences, provided insights into flowers and sunlight.
China Post Group, in collaboration with Shijingshan District, jointly releases commemorative envelopes featuring the elements of magnolia flowers.
Citizens can appreciate the most comprehensive variety of magnolia flowers in Beijing. From March 29 to April 5, at 11:00, 14:00, and 17:00 daily, key opinion leaders (KOLs) dressed in Hanfu (traditional clothing of the Han ethnic group) will tour the park, like the fairies in the old legends. Also, visitors wearing Hanfu can enter the park for free!
There are also unique activities such as magnolia-themed painting, magnolia-shaped ice cream, as well as science popularization and interactive activities, and those for cultural tourism consumption.
