It is reported that Beijing has built a total of 1,515 kilometers of greenways in the past decade by fully utilizing various green ecological areas such as green spaces, forests, parks, etc. The backbone greenway network under planning, including the Circum-Second Ring Road Greenway, Circum-City Park Greenway, Circum-Forest Park Greenway, Central City Riverside Greenway, and East Wing River Greenway, is beginning to take shape. Greenways are forming loops in key areas, connecting over 200 parks, scenic areas, and historical and cultural relics throughout the city, and providing citizens with more exercise options and enjoyable recreational experiences.
Among these greenways, the demonstration section of Chaoyang Greenway is 9.5 kilometers long, running from Anli Road to the northern part of Wanghe Park. Along the way, you can visit various attractions such as the Olympic Forest Park, Yangshan Park, Huangcaowan Park, Beihu Woodland, Beixiaohe Park, and Wanghe Park.
Citizens who love cycling can choose from the Wenyu River Greenway, Yunchaojian River Greenway, Changping District's 42-Kilometer Cycling Greenway, etc. These greenways are suitable for cycling enthusiasts to enjoy the countryside views. For running enthusiasts, there are the Circum-City Park Greenway and Circular Greenway of Parks along Greenbelts (Chaoyang section), planned as per the previous layout of water systems of the city. Such greenways range from five to ten kilometers in length, and offer visitors different sightseeing experiences.
