On August 15, the Promotional Event in Beijing for the 2024 National Ecology Day was held at Beijing Future Design Park as part of the efforts to celebrate the National Ecology Day. Beijing's green development achievements were presented during the event.
Beijing's green economy has been developing well. As of June 2024, the number of valid green technology invention patents in Beijing had reached about 57,000, with noticeable progress in green projects. The balance of green credit had exceeded CNY 2 trillion, among which the balance of loans for green buildings had increased by 40.5 percent year on year. In the first half of this year, the installed capacity of renewable energy power generation in Beijing reached 2.888 million kilowatts, and the installed capacity of renewable energy power generation accounted for 20.8 percent of the total installed capacity citywide. The scale of green electricity consumption in Beijing reached 19.7 billion kilowatt-hours, indicating a year-on-year increase by 17.9 percent.

Earlier this year, Beijing was awarded the title of "National Forest City", becoming the first citywide forest city in China. Over the past decade, Beijing's average PM2.5 concentration has dropped by 64.2 percent compared with 2013, with 95 more days of good air quality. More than 3,000 general manufacturing enterprises have been relocated and 112 national green factories have been established.
On August 15, the solicitation process for Beijing Recommended Catalogue for Low-carbon Consumer Goods (First Batch) was also launched, mainly targeting milk, beer and other beverages sold in Beijing. After a two-month solicitation and selection process, the recommended catalogue for low-carbon beverages will be made publicly available to consumers. This is the first time that Beijing conducted a selection of low-carbon consumer goods for daily life.
During the event, representatives of Tongzhou District and Yanqing District presented their districts' accomplishments in ecological civilization construction.
