During summer vacations, Beijing's public transportation will shift to summer mode with a variety of special measures to better meet the needs of the residents and visitors.

Reduced Subway Operating Intervals

Beijing Subway will increase capacity during peak hours at key transfer stations and stations near popular tourist attractions and business districts, preparing for extended late-night operations.

Line 1 (Batong Line), Line 6, and Line 8 will switch to a new summer schedule on weekends in mid-July as required by passenger flows, with the minimum interval between trains on weekends to be reduced from 4 minutes 30 seconds to 3 minutes on Line 1 (Batong) and from 5 minutes to 4 minutes on Line 6 and Line 8. On weekdays, new trains will be added on Line 15, reducing the minimum interval from 3 minutes to 2 minutes 50 seconds during peak morning hours and from 3 minutes 25 seconds to 3 minutes 15 seconds during peak evening hours.
