This year, Beijing will continue to implement the toll-free policy for passenger cars with less than seven seats (including seven seats) throughout the National Day holiday.
According to relevant arrangements, the National Day holiday in 2024 will span from October 1 to 7, with September 29 and October 12 designated as regular workdays. Passenger vehicles with no more than seven seats (or "small passenger cars" for short) are exempted from tolls from 00:00 on October 1 to 24:00 on October 7 for a total of seven days, based on the time/dates recorded on the online toll collection system when vehicles leave the exit toll lanes. Small passenger cars will be exempted from toll fees if exiting the expressways during that period.
Beijing Capital Highway Development Group predicts that during the holiday, the peaks in the traffic flows leaving Beijing will be from 8:00 to 11:00, while those entering Beijing will be from 14:00 to 19:00. In addition, there might be a situation in which the morning peak hour will start one hour earlier, and the evening peak hour will end one hour later.
Beijing Capital Highway Development Group will open special free lanes for small passenger cars at qualified toll stations during the holiday for travel efficiency. The number of such lanes will be increased for key toll stations, depending on the actual traffic flows. To prepare for the expected high passenger volumes, the gas stations in service areas will open 24 hours every day, with more charging facilities for new energy vehicles to be installed.
