Upgraded Services of Beijing Subway: Food Trucks, Flower Cabinets, Translation Machines and More

On August 13, a range of upgraded passenger services were launched by Beijing Subway, aimed at making the "metropolitan life on subway lines" much easier.


Food Trucks Offer Breakfast and Fast Food at 47 locations

To cope with the high temperatures, the convenience stores at subway stations in Beijing now provide many seasonal products, such as iced drinks, ice cream and heat stroke-prevention medicines. In addition, Beijing Subway utilized the spare spaces in station halls to set up 47 convenient food trucks at 47 locations, offering ready-to-eat breakfast or fast food.


Retail Flowers Attract Nearly 30,000 Passengers During Summer

Service facilities such as vendor machines and ATMs are now available at 164 stations of all 18 lines of Beijing Subway.

During this summer, flower display cabinets have been set up at subway stations including Wangfujing Station on Line 8 and Guomao Station on Line 10. By the end of July, a total of 28 flower cabinets had been in service, and nearly 30,000 passengers had bought flowers at the 28 flower cabinets in service during this summer.

Since the beginning of the summer rush, Beijing Subway has introduced 25 groups of shared lockers at 18 important commercial area and transportation hub stations such as Nanluogu Xiang Station on Line 6 and Gulou Dajie Station on Line 8.

Currently, all the information desks across Daxing Airport Express are equipped with translation machines, which support audio translations between Chinese and 34 languages including English, Japanese, Korean, French, Spanish, Russian, German, Italian, Portuguese, and Arabic, not to mention that they can recognize several Chinese dialects. To further meet passengers' needs, Beijing MTR and Beijing Subway have also increased the number of multilingual translation machines at several key stations.

For passengers travelling in groups, staff workers are deployed at each station to assist in ticket purchases.


Detailed Weather Forecast for Over 300 Subway Stations

With the aid of the meteorological monitoring, forecasting and warning system, subway staff can check the real-time forecasts on conventional weather conditions for the next 0-240 hours and disaster-related weather warnings for the next 0-72 hours, down to specific stations and sections of subway lines. Now, the meteorological services are available at the control rooms in more than 300 stations.
