Recently, a crested kingfisher, a nationally protected species for its ecological significance, was spotted at Lianhuachi Park in Beijing.
The crested kingfisher, named for its distinctive crest, is the largest species of kingfisher in China and even in Asia. As a nationally protected wild animal, it holds significant ecological, scientific, and social value. This bird is primarily found in central, eastern, and southern China, and its appearance in Beijing is relatively rare. Its presence typically indicates a favorable surrounding ecological environment.
Lianhuachi Park, located within Beijing's West 3rd Ring Road, boasts a history of more than 3,000 years and is known for preserving its original scenic beauty and water features. In recent years, due to advancements in ecological environment conservation, Lianhuachi Park has become a habitat for many bird species and a popular spot for citizens to watch and photograph birds.
