On the morning of October 21, Beijing Central Business District (Beijing CBD) received the symbolic handover gift from Pierre-Yves Guice, CEO of La Défense and current president of the Global Business Districts (GBD) Innovation Club, marking its official ascension as the Club’s next president. During the presidency from 2025 to 2027, Beijing CBD will work to make China's voice, Beijing's voice and Beijing CBD's voice heard globally, and contribute China's insights and Beijing's experience to international business district development.

Located in the central Chaoyang District of Beijing, Beijing CBD covers an area of approximately 7 square kilometers, with a thriving environment of modern business services, a high degree of openness in the service sector, and outstanding economic performance. While occupying merely 0.5 percent of Beijing’s total area, it generated about CNY 130 billion in tax revenue, contributing 8.5 percent of the city’s total in 2023.

At the meeting, Beijing CBD also announced its global partnership initiative, aimed at forging a more open and mutually beneficial path for cooperation by uniting business districts worldwide. The initiative focuses on six key areas: information and best practice sharing, global business trend research, industrial interaction and connectivity, cultural and intellectual exchange, sustainable development and green economic collaboration, and talent exchange and innovation partnerships.

As a vital bridgehead for the capital's opening up and an important gateway for international exchange, Beijing CBD benefits immeasurably from its inclusion in the Integrated National Demonstration Zone for Opening up the Services Sector and the China (Beijing) Pilot Free Trade Zone. Moving forward, Beijing CBD will give full play to its position as the president of the GBD Innovation Club to integrate global resources and work with international organizations such as the United Nations Development Programme and other club members to drive sustainable development and digital transformation, conduct studies of policies, establish new standards, promote international exchange and cooperation, create new platforms for open collaboration, and incubate innovative demonstration projects. Beijing CBD will collect successful experiences to promote mutual learning and best practice sharing while deepening cooperation among global business districts. It will align itself with advanced international experiences, and further expand institutional openness in regulation, management, and standards to create a world-class market-oriented, rule-based business environment in Beijing.
