The COLI Daji Xiang project, another culturally-rich commercial block and "city living room" in Xicheng District, is set to open in April.
Located on Luomashi Street and adjacent to the Southern Central Axis, the project encompasses several cultural heritage sites, including the former residence of Kang Youwei. Situated in the core area of Xuannan (south of the Xuanwu Gate) culture, the project spans approximately 360,000 square meters.
The northwest section of the project houses a cluster of cultural heritage sites, covering a total area of over 3,000 square meters. In addition to Kang Youwei's former residence, the project includes three other heritage sites: Building No. 29 in Mishi Hutong, the former site of The Weekly Review (an influential progressive magazine co-founded by Chen Duxiu and Li Dazhao in 1918) and Guanyin Temple Arcade.
Once put into operation, the cultural heritage courtyards will not only serve as resting spots for local residents but will also host exhibitions and pop-up events. Six courtyards, including those in Kang Youwei's former residence (No. 4 to 8) and the former site of The Weekly Review (No. 14), will be transformed into a museum area open to the public for free.
The project also features 80,000 square meters of commercial space, offering a diverse mix of fashion retail, specialty dining, and more. Upon opening, it will greet customers with flagship stores of renowned fashion brands and a food street featuring regional cuisines from across China. Additionally, 12,000 square meters of urban forest and sports facilities will cater to the needs of exercise and relaxation.
