Founded in 1984, the International Association of Science Parks and Areas of Innovation (IASP) is the world's only association primarily focused on science parks. Zhongguancun Science Park joined IASP in 1995 and successfully held IASP world conferences in 1995, 2005 and 2015. After a decade, Beijing won the bid to host the conference again, and this time it will be "upgraded" under the auspices of the People's Government of Beijing Municipality.

According to a responsible person of Beijing Municipality, this successful bid signifies a high recognition given by the international science park community for the achievements made by Beijing in science park development. It holds vital significance for establishing an exchange and cooperation platform for high-end international science parks and speeding up the development of world-leading science parks.

Ms. Ebba Lund, CEO of IASP, commented following Beijing being granted the hosting right that "I believe that, in 2025 with the great support from the People's Government of Beijing Municipality, Beijing will provide a broader exchange platform and much-anticipated fruitful results for the science parks around the world."
