On September 28, local time in Amsterdam, the themed exhibition "Charming Beijing: The Great Wall, the Grand Canal and the Central Axis that Traverse Through Time and Space", which was hosted by the Information Office of Beijing Municipality, was opened at CAPITAL C in Amsterdam, Netherlands. The exhibition aims to further enhance cultural exchange between China and the Netherlands and showcase Beijing's rich historical and cultural heritage, further promoting in-depth cooperation between the two countries in the field of culture.
The exhibition is highly informative and features many elements of science and technology. The digital imaging exhibition "The Great Wall and the Grand Canal that Traverse Through Time and Space" independently developed by Encyclopedia of China Publishing House allows visitors to immersively experience the magnificent history and natural scenery of these two world heritage sites.
The exhibition of photos and videos about the Beijing Central Axis provides a general picture of the harmonious coexistence between the people and the city along the Beijing Central Axis.
At the opening ceremony of the exhibition, there was also a special promotion activity for Beijing Culture Forum, aiming to attract more attention and participation from the professionals in Europe.
At the exhibition, Beijing Opera and traditional dance performances demonstrated Beijing's rich cultural heritage. The "Jingzuo" (made by Beijing) cultural workshop led the audience through a journey that depicted the exquisite skills of traditional woodworking craftsmanship, and many of them were interested in Chinese mortise and tenon joint structure and the Luban Lock.
Mark Findlay, a representative of the Dutch cultural sector, said, "This exhibition not only showcased China's cultural heritage, but also offered a chance for cultural exchange that goes beyond time and space, allowing us to gain a deeper understanding of China's history and culture". Frank, a visitor to the exhibition, said, "Such interactive experience is very rarely seen and it gives me a more intuitive understanding of Chinese culture". Many viewers expressed their hope that more similar events could be held in the Netherlands in the future, and looked forward to opportunities to travel to Beijing and experience the city's culture and vitality in person.
