Ten Museums in Beijing Make Their Way to National First-Class List, Raising City's Total to 28
The Chinese Museums Association released the Evaluation Results of 5th Batch of National First-Class Museums on May 8. A total of 123 additional museums are included in the list of the national first-class museums, among which are 10 from Beijing, including eight central government-administered museums and two municipal-level ones. The total number of the national first-class museums in Beijing has now risen from 18 to 28, a number exceeding that in other cities in China.
At the launch ceremony of the 2024 Beijing Museum Month held at the Grand Canal Museum of Beijing on May 18, the National Cultural Heritage Administration of the People's Republic of China and Beijing Municipal Cultural Heritage Bureau awarded plaques to the 10 Beijing-based museums recognized as national first-class museums in the fifth batch. The 10 museums are: the Overseas Chinese History Museum of China, the China National Museum of Women and Children, the China Customs Museum, the Former Residence of Soong Ching Ling, the Cultural Palace of the Nationalities, the Civil Aviation Museum of China, the National Museum of Modern Chinese Literature, the China Railway Museum, the Museum of Chinese Gardens and Landscape Architecture, and the Xiangshan Museum of Founding of New China.
