As a community museum, which is based on the site of Prince Kung's Mansion and takes the history and culture of the Prince Mansion as the core of research, display, and dissemination, the museum strives to build a safe museum, an academic-oriented museum, a digital museum and a museum for the public. The museum mainly assumes the responsibility of preserving, developing, and utilizing the site of Prince Kung's Mansion and its collections. Listed as a major historical and cultural site protected at the national level in 1982, it was promoted to a national 5A tourist scenic area in 2012 and was named a national first-grade museum in 2017.
