4th Happy Ice and Snow Season at Yuanmingyuan Ruins Park

The  4th Happy Ice and Snow Season at the Old Summer Palace (known as  Yuanmingyuan Ruins Park nowadays) has kicked off! The stunning Songfeng  Luoyue Lake serves as the backdrop for this year's snow-related  activities. The snow area, which is roughly 22,000 square meters in  size, boasts 46 slides, ten more than the previous year. The dimensions  of the snow circle slide are specifically 32 meters long by 80 meters  broad and six meters high.

Along  with exhilarating programs like the snow zorbing, snow trains, snow  merry-go-rounds, electronic dog sleds, and snow tanks. This year, a  brand-new experience area for curling has been added to let guests enjoy  this Winter Olympic sport.

There are now new service stations  with hot beverages, gloves, and tools for playing with snow (like  snowball tongs) both within and outside the snow area.

The opening hours of the snow area at Yuanmingyuan Ruins Park:
8:30-17:00 from January 1 to February 4

The  cost of admission to Yuanmingyuan Ruins Park does not change during the  Happy Ice and Snow Season. The snow area requires separate tickets,  which cost CNY 30 per person. There are also separate tickets for  certain programs. The recommended tickets for the snow area are package  tickets costing CNY 98 per person (CNY 188 for two persons). Visitors  can spend as much time as they like on non-motorized sports like snow  zorbing and snow cycling.

Please note that the ice area is  currently closed to the public for safety reasons due to temperatures  not meeting safety standards.


Longqing Gorge Ice Lantern Carnival

Longqing  Gorge Ice Lantern Carnival is a much-anticipated annual event in  Yanqing, Beijing. This year's session will begin on the evening of  January 10 and run through February 28.

The  lantern area, the ice lantern art area, and the ice gorge region make  up the majority of the about 500,000-square-meter area used for this  carnival. For this year's event, the 8,000-square-meter ice lantern art  area will highlight fashion, coolness, and anime-related elements,  separated into parts with themes related to the Chinese New Year of the  Snake, Pop Mart, Journey to the West, immortal heroes in classic Chinese  fantasy literature, and the ice waterfall.

Additionally,  this year, a larger part of the glacial canyon in the scenic area will  be opened, covering over 300,000 square meters. It will feature ice  amusement facilities and host various fun ice sports competitions, such  as the five-a-side soccer on ice, ice tug-of-war, ice bowling, and  family-friendly snow ring activities.
 
During the event, a series  of exciting sub-events will unfold, including the opening ceremony, the  Fun Sports Games of the Glacial Canyon, Longqing Gorge International  Food Festival, and a huahui (a collection of recreational activities)  featuring the intangible cultural heritage and folk customs in Yanqing.
