Mao Ning, the spokesperson of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the People's Republic of China announced during a routine press conference on April 25 that China is set to enhance its remote test measures in a scientific, accurate, safe, and orderly manner with the goal of facilitating exchanges between Chinese and foreign or overseas personnel.

Mao Ning announced that every traveler to China will now be allowed to take a antigen test within 48 hours prior to boarding instead of a pre-flight nucleic acid test. This new policy will take effect on April 29, 2023, and airlines will no longer require pre-boarding COVID-19 testing. Mao continued that "It is highly recommended that entry-exit tourists take measures for self-health management and monitoring before traveling. Moreover, it is crucial to strictly adhere to the specific epidemic prevention requirements of China and other countries and regions, to ensure a healthy and enjoyable journey while guaranteeing a safe return to home. To facilitate secure, healthy, and organized exchanges between Chinese and foreign personnel, we will incorporate scientific methods to optimize our epidemic prevention and control policies based on the actual situation."
