I. Introduction
The University of Chinese Academy of Sciences (UCAS) has set up the UCAS Scholarship for International Students to sponsor young talented minds all over the world to pursue Master's and Doctoral degrees, attend courses, conduct research or pay academic visits at UCAS colleges/CAS institutes. The scholarship also encourages international graduate students currently studying at foreign universities to come and participate in joint programs.
The scholarship consists of both a full scholarship and a partial scholarship. The full scholarship waivers tuition fees, application fees, monthly stipends, basic accommodation and medical insurance; while the partial scholarship covers some items of the full scholarship. The full scholarship is majorly sponsoring Master's and doctoral candidates.
II. Coverage and Duration
Full Scholarship
a) Tuition fees
PhD students would each be exempted from a tuition fee of CNY 40,000/year.
Master students would each be exempted from a tuition fee of CNY 30,000/year.
b) Monthly stipend:
UCAS provides a monthly stipend of CNY 2,500 for every doctoral student and CNY 2,000 for every Master's student. In addition, each supervisor and UCAS faculty/CAS institute (hereinafter referred to as faculty/institute) provide research scholarships and assistantships for awardees based on their academic performances. The total amount of the monthly stipend will be no less than CNY 3,500 for each doctoral student and CNY 3,000 for each master's student.
c) Accommodation:
UCAS provides basic accommodation to awardees from faculties/institutes located in Beijing. As for awardees from CAS institutes located outside Beijing, they would be provided with basic accommodation when attending the concentrated study at UCAS, while their host institutes will help provide accommodation or solve accommodation-related problems when needed. The awardees shall pay for relevant expenses as requested by the institutes.
d) Medical Insurance:
The insurance premium is CNY 800/year.
e) Application Fee:
Students would be exempted from the application fee of CNY 600.
f) Duration (with NO EXTENSION)
Master's/Doctoral students: no longer than 36 months
Partial Scholarship
Coverage: including the above a), d), e).
Duration
Master's/Doctoral students: no longer than 36 months
Students of joint programs and regular/senior visiting students: 6-24 months
III. Eligibility
An eligible applicant must:
·Be a non-Chinese citizen with a valid passport, be friendly to China and abide by the laws and decrees of China as well as UCAS rules and regulations.
·Be proficient in English or Chinese;
·For a doctoral program applicant: be born no earlier than January 1, 1989;
·For a master's program applicant: be born no earlier than January 1, 1994;
·For a senior visiting student: be born no earlier than January 1, 1979;
·For a regular visiting student: be born no earlier than January 1, 1984;
·For a joint program applicant: no age limitation.
· Meet UCAS's admission criteria for international students (please refer to the following link: https://admission.ucas.ac.cn/ShowArticle/newslist1/9bebf12d-fc49-4d67-a8f0-76997f2d114e);
·Not take up other assignments during the period of his/her scholarship.
·Take full-time study without any job if pursuing a doctoral or Master's degree at UCAS
Note:
· If you are currently pursuing a Master's degree at any university/institution in China, you are NOT eligible for the Master's program of this scholarship. If you are currently pursuing a doctoral degree at any university/institution in China, you are NOT eligible for the doctoral program of this scholarship. This rule does not apply to those who are graduating before September of the year of enrollment.
· You are NOT allowed to apply for this scholarship with two supervisors simultaneously, otherwise you will be disqualified from admission.

1. Application Materials

2. Online Application
Please log in the Online Admission System for International Students at UCAS (click here) and follow its instructions to finish all the required application procedures. File and submit your application in the system as requested before the deadline. Choose "UCAS Scholarship for International Students" for your application.
Deadline for Applicants
For doctoral and Master's programs: February 15, 2024 (Beijing Time)
For senior visiting and regular visiting programs: no deadline
