2024 Introduction to 2024 Chinese Government Scholarship for International Summer School Programs at Beijing University of Chemical Technology
I. International Summer School on Energy Science and Practice at BUCT
This program on "New Energy and Global Sustainable Development" leverages the discipline group of "Green Chemistry, Chemical Engineering and Materials" of Beijing University of Chemical Technology (BUCT), which is part of the "Double First-Class" construction plan, and its strong faculty to conduct teaching. The program will run from June 2 to July 1, 2024, to last for 30 days, with two weeks of practice and discussions as its major part, highlighting the cultivation of scientific literacy, practical skills, and innovation abilities.

4. Course Schedule
The course of this program focuses on practical activities, including lectures, seminars, a practice section, and a field trip.
The practice section mainly consists of chemical and energy-related experiments lasting for two weeks, with discussions on topics related to new energy and sustainable development throughout the section, such as hydrogen energy, lithium batteries, fuel cell design, carbon peak and carbon neutrality, and the future of youth and global sustainable development.
The professional course units are mainly advanced academic lectures, focusing on topics such as the development, design, application, and sustainable development strategies of new energy. The content covers new carbon-negative strategies for energy materials, high-performance organic silicon aerogels, low-carbon green manufacturing technologies, brain-machine interface technology and its impact on people's lives, sustainable design, etc.
The course units featuring cultural experiences include lectures on introduction to Chinese culture, China's development path, Chinese architectural culture, the charm of Chinese characters, Tai Chi, etc.
The itinerary of the field trip covers destinations such as the China Science and Technology Museum, Beijing Science Center, State Key Laboratory at BUCT, the Palace Museum, Beijing's hutongs, Tian'anmen Square, Qianmen, the Summer Palace, the Great Wall, and more.
II. International Summer School of "Chemistry+" Science and Technology Innovation at BUCT
This program focuses on the intersection of fundamental science (chemistry) and fields of emerging technologies, creating a series of research-based experimental activities under the theme of "Chemistry+". The program will run from July 7 to July 20, 2024, lasting for 14 days. It will involve five to six research topics for students to work on in groups, aiming to deepen academic exchanges between young Chinese and foreign students, enhance teamwork spirit, and improve research and innovation capabilities.

The State University of New York and the University of Detroit Mercy (United States), Kazan National Research Technological University (Russia), the University of Genoa (Italy), the University of Miskolc (Hungary), the Technological University Dublin (Ireland), the University of Malaya (Malaysia), King Mongkut's Institute of Technology Ladkrabang (Thailand), Binus University (Indonesia), etc.

4. Course Schedule
This program focuses on research-based topics, including lectures, seminars, a practice section, and a field trip.
Research projects run throughout the whole period of the summer school. Students will be divided into five to six groups, with one instructor guiding each group throughout the process. The aim is to improve students' scientific research capacities, including problem identification, proposal of hypotheses, design of experiments, and verification and summarization.
Professional course units mainly consist of advanced academic lectures, focusing on the "Chemistry+" series, covering interdisciplinary fields such as "Chemistry + Biology", "Chemistry + Materials", "Chemistry + Environment", "Chemistry + Artificial Intelligence", including areas such as chemical biology, environmental chemistry, resource chemistry, energy chemistry, molecular simulation methods, etc.
Cultural lectures include those featuring the cultural facts of Chinese characters, introduction to Chinese cities, features of architecture in Beijing, Beijing's city walls and gates, and Chinese lifestyles, among others. Cultural experience activities include those featuring Hanfu (the traditional attire of the Han ethnic group), Chinese calligraphy, Chinese martial arts, etc
The itinerary of the field trip covers destinations such as the Summer Palace, the China Science and Technology Museum, the National Stadium (Bird's Nest), the National Aquatics Center (Water Cube), Tsinghua University Science Park (TusPark), the Badaling section of the Great Wall, etc.
