In Commemoration of the 50th Anniversary of Stravinsky's Death

Ticket (CNY): VIP880/680/380/180/50
This is an important night in the series of events in the 24th BMF that commemorate the 50th anniversary of the death of Igor Stravinsky: the Chinese premiere of Stravinsky's The Rake's Progress, first performed 70 years ago. Different from his well-known folkloristic works such as The Rite of Spring and Firebird, The Rake's Progress was based on an engraving of the same title by Hogarth, one of the most important British printmakers in the 18th century. The engraving tells the story of a Casanova bewitched by the devil, indulging in luxury and finally takes the consequences. It is a masterpiece on classical themes in the composer's period of neoclassicism. This performance is bound to expand our understanding of Stravinsky.
