As the main sports stadium for the 29th Summer Olympic Games, the National Stadium (Bird's Nest) is situated in the central area of the Beijing Olympic Park and occupies a total land area of 20.4 hectares. With a total floor area of 258,000 square meters, it can accommodate 91,000 audiences. The National Stadium is a special-class sports architecture and the design service life of its main structure is 100 years. The main body of this building resembles an oval bird nest shaped by a series of steel trusses that envelope the seating area of the stadium.
