Apply for a

Medical Certificate of Birth

Required materials:

1. For the Medical Certificate of Birth issued for the first time, original copies and photocopies of the parents' valid identity documents are required (For foreign nationals, original copies and photocopies of their passports are needed).

2. If the application for the Medical Certificate of Birth is not being submitted by the mother of the newborn, an authorization letter signed by the mother personally is required together with the original copy and a photocopy of the valid identity document of the authorized individual submitting the application.

Apply for a

Certificate of Vaccination

Case 1: Applying for a Certificate of Vaccination for a newborn at a midwifery institution

In accordance with the requirements outlined in the Beijing Immunization Schedule for Vaccine-based Immunization Program, every midwifery institution in Beijing should vaccinate each foreign newborn born in Beijing with the Bacillus Calmette–Guérin (BCG) vaccine and the first dose of hepatitis B vaccine within 24 hours after birth. In addition, the prophylactic vaccination records should be registered and the corresponding Certificate of Vaccination should be issued.

Required materials: An original copy of a valid identity document for one of the newborn's parents (For a foreign national, an original copy of his/her valid passport is required).

Where to apply: Outpatient section of the obstetrics and gynecology department in any of the midwifery institutions in Beijing

Processing time: Please contact the midwifery institution to apply for a Certificate of Vaccination for the newborn after vaccination. The application will be processed as soon as possible after being received.

Fees: Free of charge


Case 2: Applying for a Certificate of Vaccination for a newborn at a medical institution

Required materials: An original copy of a valid identity document for one of the newborn's parents (For a foreign national, an original copy of his/her valid passport is required); the residence certificates of the parents of the newborn.

Where to apply: Vaccination outpatient department at the local grass-roots healthcare institution in the place where the newborn's parents reside

Processing time: Please contact the local grass-roots healthcare institution to apply for a Certificate of Vaccination for the newborn after vaccination. Applications will be processed as soon as possible after being received.

Fees: Free of charge

Apply for

'Temporary Residence Registration'

Required materials:

1. The original identity documents of the parents of the newborn (For foreign nationals, valid passports and visas are required);

2. The original Medical Certificate of Birth for the newborn;

3. If the application is being submitted and processed by an authorized individual,, the identity document of this individual and the authorization letter should be verified.


Where to apply: One of Beijing's 17 exit-entry administration service centers for foreign nationals (click to see details)


Processing time: Within 60 days after the newborn's birth. Applications will be processed as soon as possible after being received.

Fees: Free of charge

Notes:

1. After the birth of the newborn has been registered or the newborn has obtained a valid passport or any other international travel documents, the parents must apply for a visa for the newborn in accordance with the reason for the stay.

2. Any individual who fails to complete registration of birth for a foreign national in accordance with regulations will receive a warning and may be subject to a fine of not more than CNY 2,000.
