Dog-keeping Restrictions on Breeds in Beijing

The Provisions of Beijing Municipality on Administration of Dog-keeping regulates the following provisions for dog breeds allowed to be kept in the key management zones:

I. In principle, small-sized toy dogs (35 cm or shorter in height) are allowed to be kept in the key management zones. E.g.: Pug, Pekingese, Pomeranian, Cavalier King Charles Spaniel, Papillon, Chihuahua, Maltese, Miniature Pinscher, Shih Tzu, Yorkshire Terrier, Toy Poodle, etc.

II. Ferocious dogs and adult dogs with a height of more than 35 cm are prohibited in the key management zones. Eg.: Mastiff, German Doberman Pinscher, St. Bernard, Great Dane, Great Pyrenees, Bernese Mountain Dog, Rottweiler, Weimaraner, Setter, Afghan Hound, Foxhound, Bloodhound, Irish Wolfhound, Saluki, Greyhound, Borzoi, Basenji, Australian Shepherd, Belgian Shepherd, Bouvier des Flandres, Bearded Collie, Rough Collie, German Shepherd, Old English Sheepdog, British Bulldog, Chow Chow, Dalmatian, Keeshond, Akita, Newfoundland dog, Alaskan Malamute, Bedlington Terrier, Border Terrier, Bull Terrier, Kerry Blue Terrier, etc.

III. Guide dogs raised to assist blind people or provide assistance to severely disabled people in the key management zones shall not be included in the restriction list of dogs, regardless of height.
