Recently, a cultural salon themed on the Grand Canal was held at Haiqingyuan, a historical garden on Di'anmen West Street and close to Shichahai. During the event, the Grand Canal International Culture and Communication Center was inaugurated, which is tasked with promoting the culture of the Grand Canal, advancing the development of think tanks, strengthening inter-city cooperation, and improving the well-being of residents along the Grand Canal.

In recent years, Xicheng District has been dedicated to promoting the Grand Canal through exhibitions, roundtable forums, and cross-sectoral initiatives. The new center makes Shichahai an important showcase for the Grand Canal.

The center will serve as a hub for enthusiasts of the Grand Canal culture, including international visitors who will be given the chances to participate in activities to learn about the canal's history and culture while touring the Shichahai scenic area.

The center will also provide a platform for experts and scholars to communicate and collaborate. They can conduct field trips to generate new ideas and approaches for the development and publicity of the Grand Canal.

Moreover, the center will present new opportunities for local development. Representatives from other cities along the Grand Canal can visit Shichahai and forge closer and mutually beneficial cooperation with Xicheng District in culture, business, and other sectors.
