The
3rd "Beijing - A Global City" Short Video Contest
officially kicked off in Evefashion Plaza of Beijing Garden Expo Park
on May 31. Hosted by the Foreign Affairs Office of the People's
Government of Beijing Municipality, the contest is organized by CRI
Online of China Media Group, under the supervision of the
International Communication Bureau of the International Department of
the Central Committee of the Communist Party
of China and the Information Department of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of
the People's Republic of China.

The 3rd "Beijing - A Global City" Short Video Contest aims to encourage people to record the excellent moments of urban development from their own perspectives and showcase the international image of Beijing through short videos. The contest has been launched with a focus on enhancing the quality of services for domestic diplomatic events, improving functional facilities, attracting international high-end elements, and optimizing the international service environment. It aims to capture significant themes with subtle moments and portray great changes through short stories by inviting Beijing residents, foreign nationals who love Beijing, as well as organizations operating within the city to submit excellent short videos highlighting heartwarming stories in international communication and touching moments in friendly exchanges. The contest also serves to showcase Beijing's new look and achievements in establishing itself as an international exchange center that facilitates the Chinese path to modernization and seeks to unveil the vibrant international image of the city.

The contest accepts submissions from designated participants or groups as well as individuals. Entries from both individuals and groups should run for no longer than two minutes. Contestants can upload their videos onto new media platforms such as Kuaishou, WeChat Channels, Weibo, or Douyin with the hashtag #Beijing - A Global City 2023#, and also send the original video along with the name, work introduction, and creator's information to the organizing committee of the contest via email at beijingvideos@cri.cn. The video collection process will remain open until October 15. After the submission deadline, the panel of experts will select winners for first, second, and third prizes, as well as excellence awards. Winners will receive certificates and bonuses in recognition of their achievements. The winning works will be showcased on the Foreign Affairs Office of the People's Government of Beijing Municipality, CRI Online of China Media Group, and other official websites as well as new media platforms.

The launch ceremony of the contest also witnessed the release of a video collection notice, a contest logo, promotional videos, and theme music. Besides, appointment letters were also presented to the panel of experts. Award-winning representatives of the previous contest such as Su Rui and Wu Yuyao, and Professor Guo Yanmin of the Communication University of China, as well as Justa, a Polish media planner shared their views on creating short videos under the theme of "Beijing - A Global City".

During the contest, the sponsor will host eight photography events offline with a focus on different themes such as the key industrial functional areas and international artistic and cultural exchanges. These events will bring together a group of visitors such as foreign diplomats in China, foreign journalists, experts, and international students in Beijing to various locations such as Beijing Yanqi Lake International Conference Resort, Beijing Daxing International Airport, National Centre for the Performing Arts, and Beijing Municipal Administrative Center (BMC). By attending these events, visitors will have a unique opportunity to gain a better understanding of the new progress and achievements of building Beijing into an international exchange center.
The launch ceremony attracted foreign journalists and international students from over 50 countries and regions, such as Malaysia, Thailand, and Hungary.
