​Museums in Beijing Release Schedules for Spring Festival Holiday

As the 2024 Spring Festival holiday is approaching, several museums in Beijing have recently announced their opening schedules for the holiday. This will help visitors plan their visits accordingly to avoid disappointment.

In addition, during the holiday, more than 100 museums in Beijing will be open. Apart from over 20 popular museums, such as the Palace Museum and the National Museum of China, more than 90 percent of the museums in the city will no longer require reservations for visits.

National Museum of China

The museum will be closed on February 9 (Chinese New Year's Eve) but open from February 10 to February 17 (the first day to the eighth day of Chinese New Year) during the holiday. The opening hours are from 9:00 to 17:00, with the last entry at 16:00.

During the holiday, the National Museum of China will continue to implement a real-name reservation system for all visitors (in time slots). Please make a reservation for the free admission at least seven days in advance, and on the day of your visit, please enter the museum during the time slot you have reserved.

Palace Museum

The Palace Museum will be closed all day on February 9 (Chinese New Year's Eve). It will open from February 10 to 17 (the first day to the eighth day of the Chinese New Year). The museum opens at 8:30 and closes at 16:30, with the last entry at 15:30.

Prince Kung's Palace Museum

The museum will be closed on February 9 (Chinese New Year's Eve) and February 10 (the first day of the Chinese New Year). It will open from February 11 to February 17 (the second day to the eighth day of the Chinese New Year). The museum opens at 8:30 and closes at 17:00, with the ticket-checking stopped at 16:10.

National Natural History Museum of China

This museum will be closed on February 9 (Chinese New Year's Eve) and February 10 (the first day of the Chinese New Year). It will open from February 11 to February 17 (the second day to the eighth day of the Chinese New Year).

Opening Hours: 9:00 to 17:00 (Last entry at 16:30)

The National Natural History Museum of China has implemented a real-name reservation system for all visitors (in different time slots). Visitors are requested to make reservations one to three days in advance on the official website or official WeChat account of the National Natural History Museum of China, with updates available daily at 11:00. On the day of your visit, please enter the museum during the time slot you have reserved.

Chinese Archaeological Museum

It will be open as usual on February 9 (Chinese New Year's Eve). From February 10 to February 17 (the first day to the eighth day of the Chinese New Year), the museum will be open to the public from 9:00 to 16:30 (last entry at 16:00).

During the holiday, the Chinese Archaeological Museum will continue to implement a real-name reservation system for all visitors. Please make reservations at least three days in advance through official channels such as the museum's official WeChat account or the official WeChat account of the China Historical and Cultural Exhibition Center. Make sure to plan your visit in accordance with the schedule.

Grand Canal Museum of Beijing

The museum will be closed on February 9 (Chinese New Year's Eve). It will open at 13:00 on February 10 (the first day of the Chinese New Year), and from February 11 (the second day of the Chinese New Year) onwards, the museum will resume its regular operating hours from 10:00 to 20:00, with the last entry allowed at 19:00.

China National Arts and Crafts Museum/China Intangible Cultural Heritage Museum

It will be closed all day on February 9 (Chinese New Year's Eve) and February 10 (the first day of the Chinese New Year), and will open as usual from February 11 (the second day of the Chinese New Year) to February 17 (the eighth day of the Chinese New Year).

Daytime visiting hours: 9:00 to 17:00 (last entry at 16:00)

For the New Year Lantern Festival, the visiting hours are from 18:00  to 21:00 (last entry at 20:30).

Beijing Lu Xun Museum

It will be closed on February 9 (Chinese New Year's Eve), which falls on a Friday, and will be open as usual from February 10 to 17 (the first day to the eighth day of the Chinese New Year) with visiting hours from 9:00 to 16:00.

To ensure a pleasant visit, please make a reservation for your trip through the official WeChat account of Beijing Lu Xun Museum at least three days in advance.
