On July 6, the Internet 3.0 Summit Forum took place in Beijing as part of the 2023 Global Digital Economy Conference themed "Data Drives Development; Intelligence Leads the Future".

During the forum, the start of the preparatory process for the establishment of the Beijing Municipal Innovation Center for Metaverse Industry was announced, and the Beijing Municipal Special Fund for Digital Human Bases and a data storage platform dedicated to digital humans were officially launched. In addition, several milestone achievements were released, such as the industrial spectrum of the Internet 3.0 industry, the first-ever accelerator for the XR industry in China, and the "Qiyuan" project (a project aiming to contribute to the high-quality development of the metaverse-relevant industries by gathering new products, new technologies, and demonstration cases, among others related to the metaverse, commercializing and promoting the application of relevant achievements in accordance with governmental policies, and facilitating the creation of a sound ecosystem for the development of the metaverse-relevant industries in cooperation with investment institutions of the society). These fruits serve as an indication of Beijing's leading role in the coordinated promotion of the industrialization of digital technologies and digitalization of industries, the empowerment of traditional industries in transformation and upgrade, the development of new industries, new business patterns, new models, etc.

According to the remarks by Sun Maosong, Vice President of the Institute of Artificial Intelligence of Tsinghua University and a foreign academician of Academia Europaea, artificial intelligence can emerge as a driving force for improving work efficiency in a sound manner, which, however, does not entail its replacement of any industry or individual. Sun further stated that, even though artificial intelligence is a double-edged sword, it remains unwise to avoid using it simply due to possible errors and risks. The imperative is, as Sun said, to avoid the risks rising from artificial intelligence over the continuous course of development.
