Beijing will establish a general artificial intelligence (AI) innovation park in its Zhongguancun Science City to get a head start in planning for the AI industry. The park is expected to be put into service by the end of 2024.

The innovation park will focus on artificial general intelligence (AGI) development, build a vertical AI industrial ecosystem integrating “government, production, academia, research and application,” and foster a new highland for AI development. In this way, it aims to serve key research tasks and set new standards for basic AI innovation globally and industrial agglomeration.

The park will cover a total floor area of almost 100,000 square meters (10 hectares), including almost 57,000 square meters above ground and 42,500 square meters below ground. The park will feature a computing center, AI exhibition center, business incubation area, offices that can be rented for scientific R&D, as well as gyms, restaurants and other supporting businesses.

Specifically, the computing center will be applied to support the construction of an AI computing cloud platform. The business incubation area will bring together small startups and entrepreneurial teams and professionals in fields of cutting-edge technologies. The rental offices will be equipped with labs, featuring scientific research and trial production facilities for the convenience of research institutions and AI enterprises. In addition, the park will adopt smart products and building materials such as electronically controlled atomized glass, transparent electronic screens and LED ceilings to create a green and low-carbon intelligent park.

In the future, the AI innovation park will further empower Zhongguancun Science City to innovate AI systems and mechanisms, pool resources, and cultivate an ecosystem conducive to the development of AI, so as to improve AI innovation capacity in an all-round manner.
