About ITP-CAS

The  Institute of Theoretical Physics of the Chinese Academy of Sciences  (ITP-CAS) was established in Beijing in June 1978. The ITP now has 63  staff members, including six Members of the Chinese Academy of Sciences  (CAS) (four of them are also Members of The World Academy of Sciences).  It also has about 24 postdoctoral fellows and 159 graduate students. The  ITP consists of two research divisions focusing on the following  fields: (1) Quantum Field Theory and Microscopic Structure of Matter  (Particle Physics, Particle Astrophysics & Nuclear Physics); (2)  String Theory, Gravity and Cosmology; (3) Statistical Physics and  Theoretical Biophysics; (4) Condensed Matter Physics and Quantum  Physics.

Center for Gravitational Universe

To  set up the Center for Gravitational Universe is a part of the “14th  five-years Plan” for ITP-CAS. The center is going to carry our  international collaboration and study on some key issues relevant to  gravity theory, cosmology, gravitational wave physics, astro-particle  physics, quantum gravity, astrophysics etc., and to train outstanding  young talents. At the same time , one of the aims of this center is to  provide strong supports to some relevant notational projects such as  gravitational wave detection, cosmic-ray physics, dark matter search,  etc.
