The Beijing Development Institute of Peking University recently released the Beijing-Tianjin-Hebei Coordinated Innovation Index (2026). The index evaluates the Beijing-Tianjin-Hebei region's progress in coordinated innovation across five key areas: innovation capability, research collaboration, technological linkages, innovation performance, and innovation environment. According to the report, the index rose from 100 to 388.0 between 2013 and 2024, representing an average annual growth of 13.1 percent and reflecting marked progress in the coordinated innovation in the region.
The integrated progress of technological and industrial innovation in the region has begun to deliver tangible results. Four clusters were newly included in the second batch of the National Advanced Manufacturing Clusters of China, namely the Beijing-Tianjin-Hebei Next-Generation Information Technology Application Innovation Cluster, the Beijing-Tianjin-Hebei Safety and Emergency Equipment Cluster, the Beijing-Tianjin-Hebei Integrated Circuit Cluster, and the Beijing-Tianjin-Hebei Intelligent Connected New Energy Vehicle Cluster. The region now hosts a total of seven National Advanced Manufacturing Clusters.
