On October 15, Beijing made its debut as a new member of the World Cities Culture Forum Summit held in Amsterdam, the Netherlands. This marked Beijing's first international appearance as a part of the alliance, representing a new milestone in Beijing's engagement in international cultural exchange and a fresh dialogue with the world through culture.
The summit, which ran until October 17, also featured the release of the fifth edition of the World Cities Culture Report. As a newly joined city, Beijing's participation drew widespread attention. Through this platform, the Beijing Municipal Bureau of Culture and Tourism actively engaged in multilateral international cultural exchanges and dialogues, strengthening cooperation and mutual learning in areas such as cultural heritage preservation, innovation and development, and cultural transmission. The city sought to share its unique cultural narrative with the world and enhance Beijing's global cultural influence.
Initiated by London, the United Kingdom in 2012, the World Cities Culture Forum is a multilateral cooperation mechanism designed to promote cultural exchanges and collaboration among global cities and advancing urban cultural prosperity. The network currently comprises 46 cities across five continents.
