Beijing's first major artificial water diversion channel, the Yongding River Diversion Channel, will gain a new, vibrant waterfront where people can stroll, cycle, and enjoy waterside views.

The waterfront construction project for the channel's Haidian section is being developed in five stages. The waterfront space for the Wangta sub-section will be completed and open to the public by the end of November.

The Wangta sub-section is located between residential areas. It starts from West 4th Ring Road in the west, ends at Wanshou Road in the east, borders Dinghui Industrial Park and Dinghui Park in the north, and reaches Zhugezhuang Road in the south, with a total length of 1.78 kilometers. Two-meter-wide waterfront walkways will be built on both banks of this sub-section, totaling 3.56 kilometers in length, with a 1.75-kilometer cycling path for leisure and exercise.

In addition, the riverside area of Dinghui Industrial Park along the Wangta sub-section will be transformed into a commercial street. Shops for sports, education facilities, and catering establishments will directly face the open waterfront platforms. More special activities such as ball games, cultural photography campaigns, and leisure markets will also be held here
