The weather is becoming warmer while spring flowers are coming into bloom. Looking for somewhere for an outing? Think about Fengtai's Yongding River Greenway, where you can ride a bike or just take a stroll to immerse yourself in nature!
Travel Guide
The greenway stretches along the left bank of the Yongding River in Fengtai District, with a total length of 13.08 kilometers. It is open 24 hours a day, and connects key attractions such as the Green Embankment Park (绿堤公园), Purple Valley (紫谷伊甸园), and Wanping Lake, which are all great places for cycling, photo-taking, and more. It is also pet-friendly!
Cycling

Recommended route (13 kilometers long):
East Gate of the Green Embankment Park → Wanping Lake's Observation Deck → Jingxiong Bridge's Viewing Point → Beitiantang Park.
In the first kilometer or so, you may come across families with children, so be sure to control your speed and yield to pedestrians. If you set off at 15:30, you may arrive at Jingxiong Bridge just in time for the sunset.
Photo Spots
Sea of Lavender at Purple Valley (Peak period: June to August)

Tips: Wander along the paths among the flower fields and have a friend capture your "smile over the shoulder" from a slightly diagonal rear angle. Use the wide-angle mode on your phone and shoot from a low position to maximize the effect of expansive flower fields. If you head further into the field, you'll find a Musical Note Sculpture — stand beside it and take a silhouette shot for a romantic vibe.
Wetland Boardwalk at Wanping Lake

Tips: Crouch down by the water to capture waterbirds in motion with continuous shots. These birds are most active between 8:00 and 9:00 in the morning. Keep quiet to avoid scaring them away.
Sunset at Jingxiong Bridge

Tips: At sunset, head to the Bridge Observation Deck in the middle of the greenway to frame both the bridge and the setting sun in your shot. Use your phone's night mode to capture the moment the bridge lights are turned on for stunning photos.
● Leisurely Tour Option

Recommended route: Green Embankment Park → Wanping Lake → Wanping Fortress Pedestrian Street
If you get tired along the way, take a break at a café in Wanping Fortress or relax on a bench in the pedestrian street to enjoy the breeze and the view.
Reminders:
On weekends, the parking lot at the Green Embankment Park often gets crowded after 10:00. We recommend taking Subway Line 16, exiting at Wanpingcheng Station from Exit D, and then riding a shared bike for 10 minutes to reach the greenway.
The greenway has no night lighting, so avoid going a long way into it after 18:00. Also, for Dawang Temple in Beitiantang Park, only the outside part is accessible, as the interior is currently closed.
Lavender flowers' peak season is from June to August. It is better to visit mid-week to avoid weekend crowds.
Invite a few friends for a stroll or a bike ride together!
