Beijing's first cat-themed community dedicated to animal welfare, known as "Zhuayin Aixin" (爪印爱心) and nicknamed "Cat Island", has opened on a lake island in the southern section of Yongding Park in Daxing District. It is a dedicated sanctuary for stray cats, providing them with a safe and stable home while offering visitors a relaxing getaway.

Unlike ordinary cat cafés or other places alike, the "Cat Island" features a separate quarantine and observation area, a dedicated area for medical care and rehabilitation, a rest area for elderly and frail cats, and a leisure area for interacting with the cats, as well as a shaded seating area and a lakeside viewing platform. The site follows a scientific and standardized approach to take care of the cats, based on a closed-loop model encompassing the capture and sterilization of stray cats, health care, sheltering, and adoption. Every cat admitted receives deworming treatment, a health check, neutering and postoperative care, and a behavioral assessment, with each having an individual care record. Daily care, health management, adoption screening, and regular follow-up visits all follow standardized procedures.

After entering Yongding Park through the south gate, walk for about 5 minutes along the left-hand side of the running track, turn right following the orange signs, and you will come to a wooden gate decorated with a kitten motif — the entrance to the "Cat Island". On the island, visitors can watch the cats relaxing, spend time petting them, or sit quietly by the lake with a coffee and enjoy a break.
Visitors must follow the site's rules, which include, but are not limited to:
1. Visitors under 6 are not admitted to the "Cat Island";
2. Every visitor aged 7 to 16 must be accompanied and supervised by a guardian at all times;
3. Bringing pets onto the island is prohibited to prevent cross-infection;
4. Visitors may not bring their own food to feed the cats and may use only the cat treats provided by the community;
5. Chasing, dragging, or forcibly picking up or holding cats is prohibited; visitors are expected to interact with cat in a gentle manner and behave properly.
