On November 1, it was announced that the Baihe Pumped Storage Power Station project, funded and developed by Beijing Energy Holding Co., Ltd., had recently received official approval from the Beijing Municipal Commission of Development and Reform.

The power station is located in Qianjiadian Town and Xiangying Township in Yanqing District, and will have a total installed capacity of 1 million kilowatts. The project will include four reversible pump-turbine generating units, each with a capacity of 250,000 kilowatts, along with key facilities including an upper reservoir, a lower reservoir, a water conveyance and power generation system, an underground powerhouse, and a switchyard. Designed to operate at full output for 5.5 consecutive hours, the station will serve as a "super power bank" and an emergency safeguard for the safe and stable operation of Beijing's power grid.
According to the approval document, the total construction period of the Baihe Pumped Storage Power Station is 66 months, with construction scheduled to begin in 2027 and commissioning scheduled for 2033. The project involves a total investment of 8.69 billion yuan (including 20 million yuan in working capital). The project's equity capital amounts to 1.74 billion yuan, accounting for 20 percent of the total investment, and will be raised by the project developer (both investor and constructor).
