Guanting Reservoir, the first large-scale reservoir since the founding of the People's Republic of China in 1949, is like a pearl inlaid between Beijing's Yanqing District and Hebei's Huailai County. The construction project of this reservoir was launched in 1951 and completed in May 1954. It has been recognized as the most important control project along the Yongding River. Over its glorious 70-year-long history, it has excelled in flood control, water supply, irrigation, and power generation.
