Recently, the Special Plan for Beijing's Park Recreation System (2025-2035) was reviewed and approved by the municipal party committee and government. The plan proposes that within the next five years, Beijing will build 25 city-level parks, with the first batch to comprise of 17 clusters.
By the end of 2024, Beijing had firmly established itself as a true "City of a Thousand Parks", with a total of 1,100 parks. The cumulative length of greenways in the city reached 2,015 kilometers.

According to the plan, by 2030, Beijing will establish 1,200 parks of various types, with a total greenway length exceeding 7,000 kilometers. The construction of 25 city-level parks, 60 district-level parks, and numerous community-level parks will be completed, with the initial formation of internationally influential park recreation clusters.
In addition, by 2035, 1,300 parks are planned to be built, with various types. The construction of 43 city-level park recreation circles and 100 district-level park recreation circles will be finalized, while community-level parks will be nearly complete. A comprehensive park recreation circle system will take shape, along with the establishment of several internationally influential park clusters.
Soon, residents and tourists to Beijing will be able to enjoy even more beautiful and magnificent scenery when visiting the city's parks. The plan indicates that parks will incorporate high viewpoints, open spaces, urban landmarks, and important linear spaces to designate over 100 landscape corridors, including elevated, wide-angle, linear, and dynamic types.
