A new riverside landmark in the Beijing Municipal Administrative Center (BMC), known as "Beitan Waterfront Leisure Space" (北滩水岸休闲空间), is now fully open to the public.

Located at the confluence of five rivers, the space stretches from the Yunchao Diversion River (运潮减河) in the north to Qianhexielu Bridge (千荷泻露桥) in the south. Its eastern boundary follows Furong West Road (芙蓉西路), while its western boundary is Beiyunhe (北运河, part of the northern section of the Grand Canal). Covering roughly 15 hectares, the space sits across the water from Randeng Pagoda (燃灯塔), Daguang Building (大光楼), Yuantou Island (源头岛) and the Shuixiangnanqu area (水乡南区, an urban functional area).
Beitan Waterfront Leisure Space comprises three zones: the waterfront viewing terraces, a large sunlit lawn, and a sun-drenched flower field.
By a canal, the waterfront viewing terraces feature grassy slopes overlooking the river, serving both as landscaped ecological embankments and natural viewing platforms for activities along the canal. The lawns and green spaces offer changing scenery throughout the year, making them ideal spots for weekend outings and camping. The sun-drenched flower field features waves of blossoms in shades of red and yellow, pink, and orange and yellow. A 4-hectare cool-season lawn also includes a space for markets.

Starting from Beitan, visitors can stroll along Beiyunhe to the Moon River Town night market to sample a variety of snacks and experience the BMC's vibrant nightlife. Linked with the northern extension of Beiyunhe's west-bank corridor, this new space connects riverside areas on both the eastern and western banks.
