The 2026 Fortune's China Tech 50 list has been released, with 14 Beijing-based enterprises named to the list, the highest number among all Chinese cities.

Fortune's rankings are widely regarded as a barometer for various global business trends. The China Tech 50 evaluates candidates based on their significance to the economy in both China and around the world, as well as their technological innovation capacity and sustained investment in R&D, their ability to build strong technological moats, and their positive social impact.

The Beijing companies on the list operate across cutting-edge sectors, including artificial intelligence, internet services, embodied intelligence, autonomous driving, new energy materials, large models and quantum computing.

The recently released Global Unicorn Index 2026 by Hurun Research Institute also shows that Beijing is home to the largest number of unicorn companies in China.
