Starting May 10: Bikes Allowed on Some Subway Lines at Weekends in Beijing

On May 10, Beijing launched a new service for cyclists on a trial basis on four subway lines — Line 6, Line 17, Changping Line, and Line S1 — covering 11 stations in total. Passengers are now allowed to bring two-wheeled bicycles with their wheel diameters no larger than 28 inches (about 71 cm) onto the subway at designated stations.The trial service will be available during operating hours at weekends only (that is to say, not on weekdays or public holidays).

They can provide access to cycling routes around the Future Science City Waterfront Park.

A dedicated fare policy has been introduced for this service, with a flat rate of 30 yuan per trip. The ticket provides one passenger carrying one bicycle with one-time access to the covered subway lines on the selected days. No overtime charges will apply.

Tickets valid for regular weekend operating slots within 30 calendar days (including the purchase date) are available via the Yitongxing (亿通行) app. Unused tickets can be refunded online. Any ticket not used after the specified date will be automatically refunded and the money will be returned to your original payment account.

Special Reminders

Only single-seat, fully human-powered two-wheeled bicycles with their wheel diameters no larger than 28 inches (about 71 cm) are allowed. Bicycles must be in good condition and free of sharp protrusions, mud, and oil stains.

Electric bicycles and powered vehicles of any kind are prohibited from entering the stations.

Passengers must complete both personal and bicycle security checks before entering the stations. Each bicycle must be covered with a protective cover provided by the station, which must be returned to the designated location upon exit.

Passengers carrying bicycles are not allowed to transfer to subway lines not piloting the service, and must enter and exit through their selected stations.
