(I) Overview

Situated in Changping District of Beijing, Future Science City (the "Science City" for short) serves as a prioritized innovation and entrepreneurship hub for high-end talent in Beijing. The development of Future Science City is centered on a framework that combines "two areas and one center". The "two areas" - eastern and western areas - serve as key supporting areas of the Science City, aiming to form a well-equipped, livable, and business-friendly R&D innovation community. The "one center" represents the Ecological Green Heart of the Science City, connecting the eastern and western areas to jointly establish an eco-friendly spatial framework that integrates clear waters and green landscapes and is marked by water-city integration. It is not only a magnet for high-end talented minds but also a vital platform for fostering the deep integration of technology-driven innovation with industrial upgrading. It continuously drives high-quality regional economic development.

(II) Functional Positioning

Future Science City concentrates on energy science, life sciences, and cutting-edge fields of information technologies to establish a modern industrial ecosystem that is propelled by high-tech industries and supported by the modern service sectors. Its aspiration is to become a central driver for technology-driven innovation and achievement commercialization in Beijing and across China.

The Science City aims to establish itself as a global hub for technology-driven innovation by developing "two valleys and one park". Among the "two valleys", the Energy Valley seeks to enhance strategic support for the energy industry, while the Life Valley is dedicated to making breakthroughs in medicine and healthcare. Additionally, Shahe Higher Education Park ("one park") is set to integrate the science and education sectors, fostering a collaborative innovation network that connects industries, academia, research, and application.

(III) Development Situation

Future Science City has attracted leading enterprises and research institutes in China and from abroad, including Huawei, State Grid Corporation of China, and the Life Science Park. The influx of these entities has significantly boosted the Science City's development momentum. Leveraging the strength of enterprises under the direct management of the central government, the eastern area has established an innovation cluster featuring over 100 branches and technology enterprises. Numerous national and municipal-level sci-tech research platforms are also in place, fostering a deep integration of industries, academia, and research. The western zone is home to Shahe Higher Education Park and the Life Science Park, pooling resources from prestigious universities and sci-tech entities. The cooperation has led to a wealth of original scientific research outcomes. The abundance of science and education resources provides a strong foundation for a robust service system that supports technology-driven innovation.

The implementation of significant projects in recent years has contributed to the improvement of the infrastructure there and markedly enhanced the comprehensive strength of the Science City. As a result, it has emerged as a key driver of technology-driven innovation and industrial upgrading in Beijing, demonstrating considerable development momentum.
