In September 2026, the Beijing E-Town Comprehensive Bonded Zone marked the first anniversary of passing formal inspection. Over a year, the zone's total imports and exports have exceeded 14 billion yuan, ranking second among Beijing's four comprehensive bonded zones.
At present, the 100,000-square-meter industrial space in Phase I of the zone has been completed and put into operation, with an occupancy rate of 60 percent. The occupancy rate of the zone's two-story bonded warehouses has exceeded 90 percent. The major imported goods include new-generation information technology equipment and components, as well as finished biopharmaceutical products and raw materials, while the exported ones are mostly high‑end medical equipment. The enterprises in the zone can benefit from policy incentives such as bonded processing, duty‑free import of raw materials and expedited customs clearance. A total of 31 enterprises have registered in the zone which has developed four benchmark business scenarios, including bonded processing for export and bonded manufacturing for domestic sales.
At present, the Beijing Economic-Technological Development Area is working with local biopharmaceutical enterprises to roll out a pilot of the "off-zone customs registration code assignment" mechanism for bonded R&D. Under the pilot, eligible biopharmaceutical enterprises located outside the comprehensive bonded zone may be granted customs registration codes for the zone. Without relocating their production sites, such enterprises can also enjoy bonded treatment and license exemption for imported R&D materials and components.
