The Beijing Municipal Bureau of Human Resources and Social Security recently released the Catalogs of Human Resource Development for New Quality Productive Forces in Beijing (2026 Edition), which for the first time includes the Catalog of Human Resource Development for Future Industries (the Catalog for short), creating a "talent map" for future industries.
The Catalog covers six major industries: future information, future health, future manufacturing, future energy, future materials, and future space, and spans 21 core fields, including 6G and hydrogen energy. Seven of these core fields, including artificial general intelligence (AGI) and brain-computer interfaces (BCIs), received the highest ratings.
The Catalog provides comprehensive assessments based on three dimensions: "technological maturity, industrial competitiveness, and demand for human resources", to help assess and address deficiencies in market signals, in the first initiative of its kind in China. It also translates market demand in various professional fields into clear and actionable guidance based on three dimensions, namely "difficulty in matching supply with demand", "difficulty in training", and "difficulty in changing roles".
